Paper made of stone?
It was hard to imagine what it would be like.

But it tickled my curiosity and I’ve been experimenting a lot since my first blog post about Karst.

The paper’s description mentions how smooth this paper is, which is indeed like nothing I’ve tried before. This smoothness combined with the fact that this paper doesn’t absorb like other paper, results in a very different way of working and playing with materials.

It is perfectly possible to use this paper dry, but I’ve been creating ponds of inky matter in my studio, allowing the materials to swim around and create all kinds of textures. I’ve been swooshing around the Artgraf, dripping Ecoline, dabbling charcoal, and adding swirls of gouache. It’s been a delicious mess!

If you’re curious and want to give it a go, you can use my discount code: Fenne10 on the Karst website, or use this link.
