Hergé museum in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium)
Hergé is the comic strip artist behind the famous Tintin and the funny Quick and Flupke.
In Louvain-la-Neuve in the French part of Belgium, there is a museum dedicated to his life and work. Not only the building is interesting, but the exhibition itself is stunning.
What I loved:
– A wide variety of ways to showcase original sketches, ink drawings, photographs, and published works.
– Models he used for drawings, items that Hergé collected, installations, … the whole world of his work and inspiration was there. The attention to detail was impressive.
– A very nice atmosphere. Dimmed light, but with great highlights, enough space to walk around, and very inviting to take your time.
– Despite being a comics artist, the exhibition wasn’t just for children and definitely not childish. (There is a permanent quiz for children if they want)
– Taking pictures was allowed.
– The shop is very nice.
What can be a concern:
– A lot of the original sketches are in French and not translated. All the info, however, is French, Dutch, and English. The audioguide has even more languages available.
