April sketchbook
In April, I finished the Moleskine sketchbook and started a new one, Royal Talens this time. Just to switch it up + because they are less expensive which can be liberating too.
BTW, I found out that the Royal Talens sketchbook with the simple black cover has off-white paper, but the one with the pretty cover called ‘Art Deco‘ has bright white paper. I went for the off-white one and might use the other one later.

I was experimenting with the Acrylic gouache and new pencils here. Purple isn’t on my palette often, but with spring crawling in, I was in the mood for a few new colors.
Drawing Antwerp:
And Barcelona.
These sketches are from a live session with TJ where we focused on negative space while drawing images from Barcelone by Nathalia Velásquez.
I’m easily overwhelmed by cities or busy reference images, especially when we’re sketching with a timer. In between attempting larger scenes, I drew close-ups with simple lines to avoid feeling rushed and stressed 🙂
Sketches for random projects:
When I was walking the dogs, I tried to ignore this messy corner, but I suddenly realized that it was the perfect scene for a new Neocolor that I got 🙂
It doesn’t always have to be pretty cities and epic landscapes, right?
