Wednesday Wanderings (26)- Iceland
Can you see the millions of flies circling around us? Never before did I see such buzzing clouds rising from the grasses. When we arrived at the farm we saw a few flies, the first of our trip. We got hats with nets, thinking it might be a bit overkill for a few flies- but no! Dirty detail: after this ride, I had to wash my pants as I had so many squished flies on there that it looked like I …. my pants. Haha.
Still, as horrible as it might sound, it wasn’t. On the contrary. It’s without any doubt one of the best memories of our trip. I loved my stubborn horse, the beautiful trip through fields, over lava caves, over hills and passing lakes and sheep. I don’t think I’ve ever asked a guide to take a picture of me as a memory, but definitely wanted one from this marvelous ride.
I’m even thinking of taking lessons here in Sweden to communicate better with the horses and have some skills. (I think my childhood memories of Black Beauty series and running through the fields on a stick horse might be recalled…)
I’ll shut up now for a while and let you enjoy some scenery with crazy colors, marvelous blues, boiling mud and the absence of one thing I can’t capture in a photo: the smell of eggs!
